Appalachian Youth Missions

Appalachian Youth Mission was formed during 1999 in Copperhill, Tennessee. Youth groups form around the nation came to help impoverished families in the area. Sherry Dukes of the Blue Ridge Highlander was inspired by the humanitarian work and came up with the name and built the first website.

Project Foundations for Families

Project Foundations for Families was formed under Appalachian Youth Mission after moving to Knoxville, Tennessee in 2017. Pf4f.org was formed in partnership with the City of Knoxville and Knox County. The purpose was two fold; to assist family’s and individuals to realize the dream of owning land and building a new house interest free with private at-cost financing and second to help the city clean up and revitalize unwanted tax sale properties.

Feral Cat Rescue

Feral Cat Rescue was formed under Appalachian Youth Mission in 2020 as a result of many feral cats gathering outside the office of Appalachian Youth Mission located in the Partridge Community on Woodbine Ave.

Feral Cat Rescue & Youth Sanctuary

In February of 2022, a donated 80 x 145 property in the Beaumont District of Knoxville became a draw for several volunteers. After several days of clearing and cleaning up the property it became evidently clear that this property would support a residential facility for youth aging out of the system. Surveying and architectural plans are being developed. Many individuals and businesses have come forward to volunteer their services for this first of its kind shipping containers project in the State of Tennessee. Project completion estimated for 2023.
